Our Team

The dream team at WorldWHYs is a collection of the best heads and hearts in PK-12 education. IQ and EQ abound at WorldWHYs, where passionate over-achievers dedicate their intellectual and emotional resources to augmenting the traditional education system with a global life-skills program. Stacked with decades of expertise in teaching, counseling, coaching, and leading, we are empowering a new generation to confidently navigate the future.

Lauren Shaw

Chief Executive Officer

Lauren Shaw knew she wanted to be an educator when she was 9 years old and has her 4th grade diary to prove it. Her passion for serving the underserved resulted in a path of education advocacy, program development, and fundraising to serve hard-to-reach populations – especially teen parents, foster youth, homeless students, and kids in incarceration. She brings two decades of leadership, a Magna Cum Laude BA in Social Sciences, and professional certifications from Stanford and Cornell Universities to her role as CEO. She lives with her two kids, spouse and retired therapy dog in the same town where WorldWHYs is headquartered – Fair Oaks, California.

Dr. Jennifer Lawson

Chief Academic Officer

Jennifer Lawson’s dream is to be a professional student. Her love of learning drove her toward a career in education, becoming a high school teacher, K-12 Instructional Coach, Elementary School Administrator, and now Chief Academic Officer of WorldWHYs. Jennifer is always searching for new knowledge, either formal through her Masters in Education in Gender Equity, or her Educational Doctorate (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership programs, or informal through the stacks of books on her bedside table and continual Google searches to fact check and dig deeper. She shares this love of learning with her two children and husband- their dog hasn’t joined in the conversations yet, but is a great listener.

Teresa Rowan, M. Ed.

Chief of Customer Success

Teresa began her teaching career nearly 40 years ago, in her living room, to an audience that included her two little sisters and a stuffed bear. Since that first class, she has nurtured and encouraged hundreds of students in her roles as teacher and intervention specialist, and has supported and developed numerous teachers in her roles as instructional coach, Director of Teacher Support & Student Engagement, and PK-8 School Principal. In addition to a Masters Degree in Reading Instruction, a Reading Specialist Certificate, and Restorative Practices Trainer certification, Teresa brings intense passion and a desire to serve to her role as Chief of Customer Success at WorldWHYS. She lives in Northern California with her husband, two children, and a very old and well-loved stuffed bear.
